My new found love

Lately it seems that everyone I know is pregnant. I have been starting to sew lots of baby blankets and burp cloths. As new as I am to sewing, I have found that it's been really fun to sew for babies. I finally have a friend from work that is having a girl so I have been busy sewing her a blanket and burp cloths and diaper/wipes holder. As many of us know, the fabrics out there are much more creative and cuter for girls than boys. As much as I love boys, it's just a fact that girls stuff is cuter. So here are my latest projects.

Farewell Molly

Well, our time as pet owners sadly had to come to an end today. Molly turned a bit aggressive with me last night and it not only scared me a bit but I began to think what would happen if she reacted that way with Cody. Come to find out Shih-tzu's are a bit stubborn and can get a bit mad/aggressive if you try to make them do something that they do not want to do. I was trying to get her to come out from under my bed and she did not want to come. She started growling at me and came at me to bite me when I tried to grab her collar. We went to take her back to the shelter and a family had walked up as we were waiting and were looking at her like they wanted to ask about her. We explained to them what happened and they said they were coming to look for a Shih-tzu and were very experienced with them. They didn't have any younger kids so we decided to let them take her instead of letting her go back into the shelter. Cody was very sad to hear that she had to go away, but he experienced the whole aggressive side to her with me last night and I tried to expain to him that I didn't want her to hurt him so he's trying to come to grips with the fact that she's gone. It all worked out for everyone I guess. She will be missed by Daniel and Cody.

Welcome Molly

After 9 months of trying to have another baby we decided that maybe adoption was the way to go. We were getting so tired from stress of the whole thing and so we filled out some applications and was turned down by some but we finally came across a place that would accept us...the pound!! We cruised the many pounds here in our area and found our Molly. She's a little Shi-tzu who is 1 year old and very calm. For those who remember Callie our German Shepherd...she's compeletly the opposite. She's a nice little lap dog who seems to be anywhere we are. She loves to sleep in our room with us (she would like to be up on the bed but until she's been bathed...no way!)and she seems to have been previously potty trainned so she's doing really well with that. She loves people and other dogs, going for walks, and loves to be out in our front yard. She had to be spayed before we could take her home and I guess they thought giving her a bath before the surgery was asking too much. She was there in the pound for a little over a week when we found her so she's a bit dirty and ungroomed and we are not going to be able to get her groomed for two weeks since she just had her surgery, but I couldn't wait to post her up on the blog for everyone to see. We took the clippers to her this morning to trim her fur because it's getting too long and it's driving her (and my allergies)nuts. So this is our Molly as of now. She will look much better after she gets a bath and groomed.

Would you feel weird?

This last week we just found out that the man who we bought our house from misses the neighborhood so much that he wants to buy the home across the street from us that will be up for sale soon(the woman passed away). Some people in our neighborhood have made comments like "oh that will be nice if he buys the house", but Daniel and I are kind of totally against it! The man is kind of wierd (we think). He's a retired LA city fireman so at first we were excited because after he found out Daniel was working for Santa Ana Fire he pretty much told us if we wanted the house he wouldn't take any other offers. But the more we learned about the man, the weirder he seems. Not just because of his purple jeans he wore the first time I came to look at the house or the pink/magenta pair of jeans he wore the second time I saw him at the house! Or the crazy kitchen he and his wife created and were so proud of when he showed it to me. But within 5-6 months of him moving to Texas he came back to visit California and made a stop by the neighborhood, of course. Daniel happened to be outside doing something and he came over to Daniel and made comments on the landscaping we had changed and made some more comments on the house and stuff that he did to it that he's already told us like 3-4 times! Daniel felt kind of weird. We'll since then he's stopped by at least 2-3 more times (in the past 2 1/2 years we've been in the house) to the neighborhood and tells the neighbors how much he regrets moving and wants to move back. Okay so he obviously hasn't moved on with his life. The older woman that lives across the street passed away a couple of weeks ago which wasn't a surprise to most of us because she was pretty old and had to be put into a home, but it was quite a surprise to hear that her niece who was in charge of her estate was going to get in touch with Gary, the guy we bought our home from to see if he wants it! Now would any of you feel weird if that happened to you?? I am just wondering if we are weird for feeling this way. He's retired so he'd be home all of the time and we'd be seeing him everyday! I guess if he does end up moving back I can ask him if he wants his pink stove back since I hate that thing!!!

Just to give warning...this isn't too pretty to look at! I had to show what happened to Daniel's toe yesterday after he was chasing Cody outside and tripped and hit some concrete(wearing sandels, of course). OUCH!!



For you that have boys...does this look familiar? Every single pair of Cody's pants have holes in the knees. This was what all of his pants look like at the end of the week. Dirty and holes all over! He plays hard all day long.

Random times at the Titel's

I am always trying to find new things to write about like everyone else but really we are always just up to random things.
Cody had his 4 year check up with his Dr. a couple of weeks ago and he was coughing a bit and I didn't really think anything of it but his Dr. made us take a nebulizer home and said he needed to have treatments 3x's a day because he was wheezing so bad. I felt bad because I thought he just had a little cold and he never complains about not feeling well. I guess it was worst than I thought. He was first excited because he has a friend that has to do treatments all of the time, but then once he had to sit for 20 minutes and do one himself he was pretty over that and didn't want to do it anymore. Over all Cody is in the average range for weight and height, but it still "very immature" (as the dr. says) when it comes to his speech development. He has made some progress but we still have some work to do in that direction and he will keep attending Speech Therapy.
The day of his appointment was not the best day. His appointment was at 4:00 and the office was so busy when we got there. Parents were just letting their kids run wild in the office. We waited an hour before we got taken back and then another 30 minutes to see the Dr.. After his appointment it took us another hour to get home because of traffic. We were both starving and irritable. When we finally got home at 7:00 I tried to hook up the nebulizer and it wouldn't work. It took me and my neighbors another 45 min. to figure out what was wrong and to fix it so he could have his first treatment. What a horrible night. I was so ready for that day to just be over and to go to bed. But Cody is all better and we are glad to have gotten a good night sleep that night.

Thank goodness for our neighbors (Larry and Debbie)who have a grandson (Tyler) who is Cody's age and is over at least twice a week. It helps us both keep the kids happy and busy and has been so good for Cody in helping with his behavior problems. Cody plays really well with Tyler and his grandparents (Larry and Debbie) treat Cody like one of their own. It really helps on those hard days.
The weather has been so nice lately and Cody loves to go out and hit balls. We are trying to get him ready for T-ball and other sports that we hope he will begin to play next year. We can't wait. He seems to really enjoy sports and we hope that we won't be those crazy parents yelling from the sidelines!! I will definitely be his biggest fan though!!
Every night we are graced with Cody singing his preschool songs. He brings his stool and guitar out and sings about 5-6 songs before going to bed. It's usually when we are trying to watch a TV show and he wants some attention. This particular day he had gotten to pick out a prize at his Speech Therapy for obtaining a certain amount of stickers/and mastering a sound. He picked out these glasses and decided to wear them that night. You just have to laugh and go with it. I have to admit that Cody is not afraid to be himself. He can be pretty funny at times and it's these types of moments that I love being a Mommy.

My projects

Since I've gotten my sewing machine for Christmas I have been trying out things without using any patterns. The easy stuff like baby blankets, pillows, burp cloths, etc... This past week I bought a pattern for a skirt and have been trying that out. Well, I used the pattern in the beginning and then started trying to do my own thing to add a little style myself. I ended up working on it all day Saturday and then didn't like the way it looked and took it all apart at the end of the day. Don't you hate it when that happens. Oh-well. I am going to try it another way and see how it turns out. Hopefully I won't be taking it apart all over again!! I am really getting into this sewing hobby and have so many ideas, but don't really know how to do any of them. Maybe I need a "Sewing for Dummies" book!! Here are a few of my recent projects.
