sorry no pics, just update

It's been over a month since I've updated the blog so I guess it's time. Where to even begin. We've kept busy, that's for sure. Daniel started taking his officer courses so he can promote to Captain in the next few years or so. There are 10 classes, each a week long, and he completed the first one. Only 9 more to go... It's so crazy to think that in a few years he could be testing to be a fire Captain. You tend to forget that you are aging and I guess he's at that age for an ambitious firefighter to start thinking in that direction. He will probably take some more starting next month. He's playing church basketball and still works out like a mad man. He's gotten into Spinning and has trimmed down a bit. He's taken a little bit of a break from working lots of overtime. We've decided that we are ready for another vacation and planned one for Spring break next month. This time it's gonna be Palm Springs.
I've been trying to be crafty over the last month. I got worn out for awhile but am back ready to get in the game. I am lucky to have some very crafty friends who give me great ideas.
Daniel and I signed up for our first 5K run. We all know that I love to exercise. I started running about 6 months ago and have really found enjoyment in it. I run an average of 5-6 miles a day now. Some great news, my foot may be completely healed...knock on wood!!! So far it looks good. I don't go back to the Dr. for another 2 months but am so happy to be able to walk normal and wear whatever shoes I want again. I also had a birthday...the big 33 this year. It was celebrated by a couples massage for Daniel and I. I am all about spa treatments now.
Cody has started baseball again...not my favorite time of the year but he has seemed to really enjoy it this year. This year is machine pitch so we've been to the batting cages to practice a few times. Cody loves it. He is on the Diamondbacks. He still hates school but what kid likes school, right? He's learning to read and tell time and count money so now Daniel and I can't just tell him to do things or spell things out because he questions everything. He also had a birthday and turned the big 7!! He's going through a really good period where he listens pretty well and we have good conversations. He's my little buddy, especially when Daniel is working. Hard to believe it's been 7 years though.
That's about it, or at least about what I can remember. Hopefully I will have pictures next post.

10 years!!

I am happy to say that we've survived 10 years being married!! It's hard to believe that it's been this long but it has gone by very fast. We decided to take a trip to Vegas to celebrate. It was the most fun I can remember having in a very long time and I feel very rejuvenated!

We stayed at the Mandalay Bay. We tried the $20 upgrade trick between drivers license and credit card and it worked! We got a better room for no charge!!

We ate lots of yummy food!
We saw the Lion King, which was awesome and I highly recommend!!

We spent lots of time at the day spa!!

And just plain had lots of fun together!!

Christmas

We had a good Christmas here in the Titel home. I regretfully didn't take too many pictures. My parents came down to California for the holiday and we were glad to have them here. We went out to dinner at Lucille's on Christmas Eve and came home so Cody could open his one Christmas Eve present. Bedtime was shortly after. We awoke to Santa's goodies that he left all of us. Cody's present from Santa was a trampoline. We are hoping it will get most of his energy out. We opened presents and enjoyed everyone's company. Later that day we had Christmas dinner at our home for the first time. My Mom did most of the cooking, which I was supposed to help with. I was hoping to learn to cook for a dinner party but good old Mom is the pro and I am very grateful for her hard work cooking. We ate dinner and let the kids play.

We are sad to see the holiday season leave us but we are looking forward to a great new year. Thanks to all who made our Christmas fun this year. We really appreciate the love and support. We are glad my parents were able to share the holiday with us and we appreciate the gifts. We hope everyone had a good Christmas and we wish everyone a happy New Year as well.

Christmas miracle

Our family has experienced good news. Daniel was suppose to work Christmas day and someone called him last night to say he would work for him!! We are very excited that he will be home to share in the fun!!

The Fogotten one!

Christmas time is full of gifts, love and happiness. We have been able to attend a few Christmas parties this month. Cody was thrilled to see Santa at our church party and tell him what he wanted for Christmas. The other night we went out to West Covina to have our annual Christmas party with great grandma Titel and all of the Titel clan. We had a great dinner, fun conversations, the kids played really well together and finally the gifts were given. Cody got a shiny new fire truck that he absolutely loves. We left early to attend another Christmas bash back at home. We got there and the party was in full swing...the kids were all excited for a special visit from Santa. They all sang songs and were full of anticipation for the big man...

And then it happened, Santa showed up with a bag full of presents. All of the kids jumped for joy and crowded around the big man. One by one Santa pulled out a wrapped present and announced who it was for. One by one the kids ran up and sat on his lap and received their gift. One by one...Cody sat patiently waiting to hear his named called and one by one all of the gifts were being handed out. Slowly the bag was getting more and more empty yet Cody sat and waiting so well. Soon there were only a few gifts left and I thought "I can't wait to see Cody's face when his name gets called". Soon there was only one gift left and two children stood waiting to hear their name called...sure enough, it wasn't Cody's. As that happened I sat in horror and looked at my son's face. Confusion, sadness, Cody looked at Santa and looked at the bag that Santa was joking around saying there weren't any more gifts. I didn't know what to do so I called Cody over to me and lifted him on my lap telling him it's okay. I think he was a bit hurt and confused...how could Santa forget him? Luckily a couple of people found him a gift and it was quickly handed to Santa to give to Cody.

We are very grateful to those who were able to find him a gift. Me as a Mother couldn't help but be overwhelmingly sad and disappointed. It was just one of those things that happens, but when it happens to your child it breaks your heart. Cody questioned the whole thing as he looked down and realized that the gift he got was very different from all of the other little boys. We had a little talk with him and tried to explain. It's amazing how kids can pick up on that stuff. We quickly rushed him out to the car to get his brand new shiny firetruck so he could play with the other boys. Thank goodness for Great Grandma Titel!

After the party we went home. Cody questioned again the reason why he didn't get the same toy as the other boys. We took the gift he was given and played with it and let him how cool it was even though it was different from the other boys. He agreed and we had a good time. Thanks again to those who found him the gift and made him feel better.

December is here!!

The lights are up, the decor has come out of the boxes, the count down blocks are ticking, the shopping is complete, the parents are coming for the festivities...Christmas, we are ready!!
